It may seem odd to compare two supplements made by the same company. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that not everyone can afford to take a night time and a day time fat-burner. So if you have to chose, comparing the best of the two categories, head-to-head, can really be worthwhile.
With PhenQ or PhenQ PM you’re going to get a winner. They both rank at the top or near the top of every list I’ve done. But if I have to pick a winner between them, I’m going to need a deep look into their ingredients, and what the science behind them says.
PhenQ Quick Hits
PhenQ PM Quick Hits
What is PhenQ?
PhenQ has built their supplement around the novel combination of Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) and Cysteine, known as α-Lacys Reset. Both of these individual components have important metabolic properties, but scientists have discovered that when combined, their benefits are increased. PhenQ’s philosophy from there is to surround α-Lacys Reset with the best weight loss ingredients available for the most complete fat-burner on the market.
How it Works
α-Lacys Reset provides three key benefits. One, it can help you burn fat. Literally. Next, it helps you curb your appetite, so that you’re not only burning more calories, you’re consuming less. Third, α-Lacys Reset provides a multiplier effect to your workout routines. That means more return on your gym investments. From there, the Nopal Cactus takes over, helping you stay fuller, longer. Then, thermogenic compounds like Capsimax and Caffeine keep your energy in high gear throughout the day.
Pros & Cons
What is PhenQ PM?
PhenQ PM operates from the understanding that quality of our sleep is directly tied to the success of our weight loss plan. Thus, every ingredient in PM is specifically included to help us get to sleep faster, stay asleep through the night, and achieve actually restful slumber.
How it Works
Have you ever noticed that when you don’t sleep well you end up eating more throughout the day? That’s no mere coincidence. Because our cells don’t get enough regeneration with poor sleep, they try to offset that by sending signals to our brain to supplement with calories.
But with PhenQ PM you will wake up more refreshed, with a metabolism already geared up to burn throughout the day, and because your body has rested appropriately, your cravings for sugary and salty snacks will plummet.
Pros & Cons
What PhenQ PM and PhenQ Do For You
There’s not much they both have in common–except that they both work! But there is one ingredient they both have, and that alone should get our attention. After all, if it’s important enough to include in both formulas from the same manufacturer, and it’s also effective day and night, then we should probably get to know more about it.
Chromium – 20 mcg:
Perhaps not too well known outside of car detailing shops, Chromium is actually an essential mineral for weight loss. One huge benefit is that it helps with Insulin Resistance, a key factor in blood sugar and body fat reduction. Now the only issue, of course, is that many people don’t get nearly enough of it in their daily diet. Luckily with either PhenQ or PhenQ PM you don’t have to worry about it.
What’s ONLY in PhenQ
Now that we have the one shared ingredient out of the way, let’s take a look at each supplement. Because they’re so different, we’ll look closely at bang for your buck. As we go through each list the question becomes, “Do these benefits out weight what I’d get out of the other supplement?”
Have you ever noticed that some things simply bring out the best in each other? Like a good bagel and cream cheese? Well with Lacys Reset, we have one such example. Combining ALA and Cysteine has created perhaps the best single ingredient on the market. It really does do it all.
Capsimax is a proven appetite suppressant that works on the hormonal level, which means it sticks with you around the clock. In addition to that, recent studies have shown that its thermogenic properties help you burn fat cells at their source. You can check out all the science behind Capsimax here.
Caffeine has been a roller coaster as a nutrient almost since it’s been consumed by humans. Some people’s systems just cannot tolerate it, but for others it’s the weight loss solution that they can’t do without. It is thermogenic, helps reduce cravings for snacks, and it really does energize your workouts.
This amino acid has crept into several new supplements, but PhenQ has been on the case for years. It’s because L-Carnitine really does work! Without investing in a full chemistry article, what you really need to know is that without Carnitine, our cells cannot burn fat. Meaning no matter how hard you work, the fat doesn’t leave without Carnitine.
A new addition to PhenQ, Innoslim is a combination of Astragalus and Ginseng. It’s also another example of synergistic effect. That’s because each of them can help with weight loss, but taken together, they can actually stimulate the hormone that kills fat cell growth!
If you’ve read my other reviews of products, you may be surprised I’m getting to the fiber so late! But it’s no slight to Nopal Cactus, a mighty weight loss weapon that can keep you full during the day. It can also help you absorb less fat and sugar, which is a real plus.
If you’re hard up for some chemistry reading, I have a piece all about Iodine here on the website. The short version is that without Iodine, our Thyroids can’t function, and we can’t lose weight–no matter how hard we try. Additionally, many people on diets miss out on vital nutrients like Iodine, especially if you’re avoiding salty foods.
Vitamins B3 and B12
There isn’t a terrible lot to add here that many of us don’t already know. When we’re running on all cylinders, and reducing our food intake, we might not get the full complement of essential Vitamins. Thankfully the thoughtful folks at PhenQ haven’t forgotten them!
What’s ONLY in PhenQ PM
Now we’re on to the night time formula. We won’t see anything here that stimulates energy, but we’ll still find plenty to like. And remember, many of these ingredients are going to be aimed at better, more restful sleep. But don’t be fooled! It’s all in the name of weight loss.
The first ingredient we’ll look at for PhenQ PM is the amino acid L-Lysine. Lysine has been extensively studied for its ability to help us sleep, and specifically, one study showed it was the only compound that worked with no side effects.
Arginine in its own right can help us sleep by regulating precursors of sleep apnea, which may be affecting millions of us without our knowing it. In addition, recent scholarship indicates that Arginine in combination with Lysine (listed above) increases the calming agency of both!
Theanine is the active compound in Green Tea that helps us relax, and these effects have been backed by science. Right along with Arginine and Lysine, Theanine is included to help calm you, keep you centered, and focus you on what’s important.
The full chemical name is 5-Hydroxytryptophan, and you may notice trying to sound it out that it has the word “tryptophan,” of turkey fame. And yes, it really does help you sleep. More than that, it can actually help us produce Serotonin, which can be a real game changer when it comes to avoiding snacks throughout the day after waking.
A trace element naturally found in many foods, Molybdenum, like the B-Vitamins we’ll get to below, is essential for the production of the enzymes our bodies use to break down food. The makers of PhenQ PM have studied well that when we’re lacking in key nutrients, our appetites go up, even when we’ve had enough calories for the day. But adding a vital mineral to your night time routine, you could avoid waking up and heading to the kitchen.
Choline – 27.5 mg
Choline has been used for years to help boost concentration, but it’s also amazing at reducing stress. In today’s hectic world, many of us have trouble falling asleep due to stress, and anything that can safely and naturally reduce it should be welcome.
Vitamins B1, B5, and B7 –
Same reasoning and science here as the inclusion of B3 and 12 in the normal PhenQ; which is vital because of how important the B-Vitamins are for our energy regulation.
There’s old wives tales about food cravings going back hundreds of years. And it turns out, those old tales are based in fact! It turns out that when we cut foods out, our cravings for certain nutrients drive our appetites up. That’s why PhenQ PM puts Vitamin C into a night time formula. In essence, the science indicates that late night sugar cravings are in fact our bodies asking for vitamins! So PhenQ PM gives them to us.
Do Either have Side Effects?
No, they don’t! Which is great news for you, the reader and consumer, but it makes my job that much more difficult. After all, with both being so solid in their respective categories, and neither having side effects, it makes the decision tough. But if we follow the science, we should come to a clear winner.
Verdict Is In!
The bottom line really comes down to whether you feel you need a night time supplement or a day time supplement. And for this, I’m going to go by the numbers. Millions of people are sleeping every night and still gaining weight.
But many of those millions aren’t doing anything active during the day to help their bodies shed pounds. So I’m going to say…
PhenQ Original is the Winner
And that’s simply because if you’re burning more calories due to thermogenesis and improved workouts, you’re going to sleep better. That means with PhenQ original, you’ll be eating less throughout the day, burning more calories, and your body will naturally send you to a deep, restful slumber.
But none of this takes away from PhenQ PM! If you’re able to manage two supplements per day, or if you’re only interested in a night time capsule, then PM is your winner. For most people, however, if I have to choose just one, I’ll stick with traditional PhenQ.
PhenQ is designed for everyone, no matter where you are on your weightloss journey. It can help someone who only needs to lose the last 15 pounds for their goal, and it can also be a giant help for folks just getting started.
