PhenQ PM vs Night Shred 2024 | A CLEAR Winner & Warnings

Burn fat while you sleep? It’s not so far-fetched as you might think. In fact, some of the very best fat burners on the market are currently formulating night-time products to not only help us sleep better–but help us burn fat while we’re doing it.

In this head-to-head, I’ll break down two very different formulas for PM fat-burners to decide which is better, based on the science.

Distinct features

Overall Rating: 4.7/5

  • Proven sleep aids
  • No sedatives–you won’t feel groggy tomorrow
  • Full Vitamin Complement

Night Shred

Overall Rating: 4.1/5

  • Proven Thermogenic ingredients
  • Anxiety-reducing herbs
  • Researched REM-sleep aid

What Is PhenQ PM?

Designed to complement the existing PhenQ Formula, the focus here is better, healthier sleep. The PhenQ daytime formula is packed with tons of well-known fat-burning and appetite suppressing herbs and compounds. With PhenQ PM, the target was to help your mind and body relax, for restful sleep through the night.

In short, PhenQ PM is clearly intended as a compliment to an existing fat-burning supplement routine. Its ingredients are proven to improve sleep on their own, but not necessarily to burn fat.

Pros

  • Proven anxiety reducers
  • Clinically researched Sleep Aids
  • No drowsiness the next day
  • Money Back Guarantee
  • Full Vitamin support

Cons

  • No active appetite suppressant
  • No active thermogenesis

What Is Night Shred?

Night Shred, made by Inno Sups and Inno Shred, takes a dramatically different approach. While they also include some sleep aids in their night-time formula, they also don’t let up on the gas of thermogenesis. This is a double edged sword, though. Because they include metabolism boosters, it may disrupt your sleep, especially if you are taking caffeinated supplements during the day.

Contrasting that with PhenQ PM, Nigh Shred may very well work for anyone who isn’t currently taking a daytime supplement, though perhaps not work as well as in conjunction with their Inno Shred.

Pros

  • Proven Thermogenic Grains of Paradise
  • Ashwagandha to help alleviate stress
  • Herbal relaxation blend
  • REM-inducing 5-HTP

Cons

  • Thermogenesis may stimulate hunger during the night
  • Increased metabolic processes may disrupt sleep
  • Label makes knowing exact doses of ingredients difficult

Key Differences

Here’s a quick run-down of their Pros and Cons. It all boils down to why you’re taking a PM supplement. Do you want better recovery, sleep, and rest? Or do you want your metabolism burning through the night, even it means poorer sleep quality?

What They Share

Because they have such different aims, the two products don’t share a lot in common. In fact, only one ingredient between the two.

5-HTP

More commonly known by its name Tryptophan, which my American readers assure me is a dangerous part of their Thanksgiving Holiday. This compound is naturally found in milk, canned tunas, and turkey. It speeds up the rate at which we fall asleep, and how quickly we move into REM sleep. This makes it a sure-hit in any PM supplement.

PhenQ PM Unique Ingredients

Moving on to what they do not have in common. These lists reflect each product’s divergent goals.

Chromium

An essential nutrient, but like Vitamin C (below), it’s water-soluble. That means taking a ton early in the day to decrease carb cravings won’t do you much good by bedtime. Hence its inclusion in PhenQ PM.

L-Arginine

I first came across L-Arginine in T-Boosters, because it boosts the bodies active levels of Nitric oxide, which recent research has revealed can also reduce the early instance of sleep apnea.

L-Lysine

A new compound for me to study, I was fascinated by how much better study participants rated their sleep when using this amino acid. Better sleep equals better tomorrow.

L-Theanine

We’ve all been there–counting sheep, worrying about work, wondering if that person at work was offended by our email–and now we can’t sleep. One process that can safely and effectively reduce this anxiety is called Anxiolysis, which can be induced by L-Theanine.

Vitamins B1, B5, B6, and B7

Like Chromium and Vitamin C, these water-soluble vitamins play an essential role in our metabolism of nutrients, and are best taken multiple times throughout the day, instead of in one large dose.

Molybdenum

Hard to say, but highly effective in  reducing our stress and letting us slip off into sleep that actually productive and restorative.

Vitamin C

One reason Vitamin C has the reputation of boosting the immune system is actually because of how it improves the quality of our sleep. A shot right before bed might make the difference in a routine.

Choline

I’ve written about Choline in all the best-performing Nootropics, because without it our neural system couldn't function. Taking it before bed helps our brains tend to all their nocturnal recovery tasks that much better.

Night Shred Unique Ingredients

GABA

Known chemically as Gamma-aminobutyric acid, GABA is on the leading edge of sleep and relaxation science. It actively targets the Central Nervous System, dampening its signals and activity.

Chamomile

Tea anyone? The flower that many of us know from herbal concoctions was one of the first plant remedies to be endorsed by Western Medicine for its sedative and sleep-aid qualities.

Passionflower

With the inclusion of Passionflower, Night Shred is doubling down on the GABA. That’s because his flower is one of the most potent natural sources of the relaxing compound.

Valerian Root

Valerian root’s primary aid in sleeping and relaxation is that it prevents the body from breaking down GABA, meaning better effect for what you’re taking in.

Ashwagandha Root

Many times when we can’t sleep because of anxiety or stress, it can be traced back to the functions of the stress hormone Cortisol. Ashwagandha has been clinically proven to lower Cortisol at levels seen in Night Shred.

Grains of Paradise

Long used in Asian medicines for weight and wellness, recent scholarship indicates that Grains of Paradise can actually stimulate fat-burning–even at rest.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid

A compound found in the meat of ruminant animals (they who chew the cud), this complex acid has been proven to encourage the body to burn fat round the clock.

L-Carnitine

Largely included in Night Shred as a recovery aid, L-Carnitine boosts the body’s ability to process nutrients into cells and organs that have been worked or calorie starved.

Side effects

Neither ingredient label has any ingredients that I’ve ever known to cause side-effects in health individuals. That being said, I’ve never seen so many active thermogenic compounds in a night-time supplement as I see in Night Shred.

Because none of these compounds are ever studied in sleep-settings, it can’t really be known how they would affect your sleeping patterns. PhenQ PM’s formula, however, has been studied to have no adverse effects at night.

Prices and Offers

At the time of this writing, Night Shred narrowly beats out the price point of PhenQ PM. Night Shred comes in at three bottles for $95 USD. PhenQ PM’s three bottle bundle, though, is $129. The flip side is that Night Shred’s money-back guarantee is only for 30 days–with PhenQ PM you can try it for a full 60 days.

Verdict

Our Winner here is PhenQ PM. Looking at the totality of the product’s intentions, we have to go with the product best-suited to better rest, better recovering, and better health.

Night Shred isn’t bad if you’re in a crash-diet mode. But we tend to advise against those models, given the high rates of failure. Our research has borne out the practice of judicious dieting, a good workout routine, and supplements that work with the body. Working with the body, in the case of PM supplements, means getting better sleep, and that means PhenQ PM.
