About bio-bean

The UK drinks 98 million cups of coffee every day, creating an estimated ¼ million tonnes of spent grounds which typically end up wastefully discarded.

But we’ve created a better solution. We’re the world’s expert in recycling spent coffee grounds. Based in Cambridgeshire, we recycle spent grounds collected from businesses large and small across the UK. And we transform thousands of tonnes annually into a variety of sustainable bio-products to benefit people and planet. These include Coffee Logs – our consumer retail brand of fire logs; and Inficaf – our bulk, raw material for third-party product design and development.

A pioneering business in the early growth stage, we have big ambitions to get the world to rethink waste and to reduce associated greenhouse gas emissions. Our purpose is to create a real difference for our world by sustainably innovating through spent coffee grounds. And as a Certified B Corporation™, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We’re in it for the long haul, creating impact built to last.

Following strategic oversight from our Head of Marketing, you’ll be responsible for our entire social media function: from content planning, creation, and scheduling to community management, insights analysis and reporting. You’ll also be managing our paid social media activities.

As Social Media Manager you’ll be looking after all our social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) in line with our overall marketing strategy. (We use ContentCal as our social media management software, by the way.)

The role will sit within our Commercial team and report directly to our Head of Marketing. As Social Media Manager, you’ll be…

Brand Strategy

  • Translating our brand strategy and campaigns into engaging written content.
  • Mastering our brands’ tones of voice.
  • Taking opportunities to turn our audiences into loyal friends and generate new ideas to drive the conversation.

Content, Planning & Community Management

  • Planning and creating all our social content, ensuring it reflects the relevant brand’s tone of voice, adapted to each channel.
  • Looking after our brand reputation and nurturing our social communities across all profiles.
  • Creating our social media ads strategy & schedule, in line with our overall marketing strategy, objectives, and budget.
  • Creating and scheduling paid ads content, and A/B testing where appropriate.

Trend Watching & Tool Management

  • Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on agreed KPIs, with a view to adjusting the social media strategy where relevant (in collaboration with our Head of Marketing).
  • Staying up to date with social media trends, updates, tools, and features. Your job is to be our social media expert!

Stakeholder Management

  • Ensuring accurate and accessible reporting for our company Directors.
  • Advising and training senior members of the team on best practices for posting & sharing on LinkedIn.
  • Collaborating across all bio-bean teams to gather insights and relevant information for the build-up of content.

Preferred skills, attributes, and other requirements:

  • You have at least 4-5 years of experience in managing social media within a business marketing function, including paid advertising.
  • You have ample experience in and are comfortable with creating engaging content for both B2B and B2C audiences. You’re able to drop in and out of different tones of voice with ease.
  • You are fluent in the language of sustainability and have at least a basic understanding of core sustainability topics.
  • You’re forever coming up with new and engaging content ideas.
  • You have a talent for design, photography, and videography.
  • You’re a whizz in Canva and the Adobe creative suite.
  • Communicating with stakeholders at all levels doesn’t make you sweat.
  • You have outstanding written communication skills, with impeccable attention to grammatical accuracy and proper spelling. After all, you’ll be representing the company and our mission through your content.
  • You are detail orientated when it comes to data and reporting. We’ll have full confidence that your numbers and graphs are accurate.
  • We operate in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, so you’ll need to be comfortable doing the same.
  • You’re flexible with juggling multiple tasks at the same time, while working to deadlines.
  • Self-directed learning & development comes naturally to you.
  • Unfortunately, public transportation won’t get you to our office. So, you’ll need to have a valid driving licence and car.
  • Bonus if you have a wood-burner or multi-fuel stove you can use for content creation!

Our company values are important to us. So, in addition to the above you’ll also be:

  • Self-motivated and driven to grow in your role (ambition).
  • Tenacious in the face of obstacles (tenacity).
  • Inspired to support your colleagues and succeed together as a team (nurture).
  • A believer in the importance of sustainability and a positive outlook (faith).
  • Not afraid to own up to your mistakes and to learn from them (integrity).

What we can offer you

  • Salary of £40K, pro-rata, based on 4 days (32 hours) per week.
  • Starting date: 1st July 2022
  • We’re equally happy for you to work from the office every day or to manage a hybrid schedule. We’ll need you in the office around once per week (bearing in mind the need for ‘soaking up’ the bio-bean atmosphere for genuine content and catching those candid ‘behind the scenes’ moments), but beyond that whatever makes you most creative and productive is fine with us.
  • Access to company share option scheme following your first full year of employment.
  • Life assurance.
  • 25 days’ holiday per year.
  • Opportunity to join a B Corp™ and company at the forefront of the circular economy.
